Basically… I believe so, until or when it is abused. The last company I worked for let us use lunch hour and break time for personal business. The thing is, we’d no fixed lunch hour or bbreak time. It was obvious if someone dropped off in productivity and on top of that, the company monitored internet use, so if they wanted to, they could tell if you were abusing the privilege. Of the 9 of us on the team, one person received a warning one time, but personal use was not revoked. I tend to trust people to do the right thing, so did the people I worked for. However, I can also see not allowing personal use is an equally valid position for a company to take. After all, they are paying you for the work you do, not for entertaining yourself on their time.
